Randy Sabien and the Fiddlehead Band to Play Oct. 19
Randy Sabien and the Fiddlehead Band will perform at Cottey College on Saturday, October 19, at 8 p.m. in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts.
NPR’s Jazz Profiles dubbed Randy as “The past, present, and future of jazz violin.” He started with classical violin lessons, and then learned how to play music by the Grateful Dead and James Taylor. Then he heard the music of the great jazz violinist, Stéphane Grapelli. With a new musical focus, he began learning and playing the jazz of the 30s, 40s, and 50s on his violin. His eclectic jazz quintet plays regularly across the country.
Tickets for Randy Sabien and the Fiddlehead Band are $8 for adults and $6 for those under age 18 or over age 62.
The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
Financial assistance for Randy Sabien has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
