Student Workers Raise Money for Local United Way
In the weeks leading up to April, the two student assistants in the Cottey College Campus Activities and Ticket Office, Emily Bartlett and Megan Kittner, were working their hardest to successfully bring together a silent auction for Cottey's Founder's Day Weekend. Encouraged by staff of the Campus Activities and the Office of Student Life, the two pursued donating all proceeds to United Way of Vernon County.
On the evening of April 5, 2013, these courageous women set up, ran, and tore down their silent auction in the Raney Dining Room, followed by two days of distribution, all with the volunteerism of a few Cottey sisters. Raising a total of over $800, the women were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Cottey community. The event received donations from over thirty clubs, organizations, and individuals at the College.
