Comets Defeat Central Methodist
The Cottey College Comets shook off their first defeat on Saturday by gaining an easy win last night over the Central Methodist junior varsity 81-58.
The Comets jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead in the opening minutes, and cruised to a 24-point lead at the half, 47-23. Head coach Dave Ketterman substituted freely in the second half as the Comets easily maintained their advantage over the visiting Lady Eagles.
Blaklee Sanders led the Comets with 17 points. Also in double figures were Dayna Turnbull with 13 points and Selena Gochenour and Bailey Braden each with 12 points.
The win raised the Comets' record to 11-1 on the season. They will travel to Hesston, Kansas, on Saturday to face the Lady Larks. The next home game will be on Saturday, February 2, when those same Hesston Larks visit Cottey. That game will tip off at 1 p.m. inside the friendly confines of Hinkhouse Gymnasium.
