A Defining Moment Campaign Passes $26 Million

Cottey College is ringing in the New Year with a special announcement: A Defining Moment Campaign has passed $26 million with a new total of $26,166,851. A Defining Moment is the College's $35 million, five-year comprehensive campaign that launched in September 2009. It is the first comprehensive campaign in the College's history.
Cottey College President Dr. Judy Rogers acknowledges that the campaign's success must be credited to an incredible network of volunteers and supporters.  "We, at Cottey, are deeply grateful to the many, many P.E.O.s, alumnae, and friends whose generosity is making this campaign successful," said Dr. Rogers. "We are confident we will meet our campaign goal and that Cottey will continue to enable women to achieve their brightest future."
"It was a fantastic holiday season for Cottey College," said Carla Bryant Farmer, campaign manager and senior major gifts officer. "Our supporters were extremely generous at year end and allowed us to ring in the New Year with record giving. The surge we received over the last month has been inspiring. I have no doubt Cottey will reach its $35 million goal by this time next year."
As the campaign enters its final phase, plans are underway for outreach events across the United States in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Austin, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Omaha, Nebraska; North and South Dakota; Little Rock, Arkansas; Boston, Massacussetts; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Since the launch of the campaign, 65 events have been hosted reaching thousands of individuals.
Through A Defining Moment Campaign, Cottey plans to increase enrollment with the addition of new baccalaureate programs and increased financial aid.  Cottey introduced its first baccalaureate programs in 2011 and currently offers four degree programs in English, environmental studies, international relations and business, and psychology with others being developed.
A Defining Moment Campaign has five priorities: scholarship endowment, library enhancements, faculty chairs, a new fine arts instructional facility, and unrestricted giving. For more information on the campaign, visit the campaign website at or contact Carla Bryant Farmer at 417-448-1418.
