COMETS FALL IN BORDER BATTLE WITH FT. SCOTT
Fort Scott's Lady Greyhounds snapped a five-game losing skid with a 52-41 victory over the Cottey Comets in the gym at Cottey's Hinkhouse Center.
In a low-scoring first half, the Comets found themselves trailing by four at the break, 20-16. The Comets couldn't do much better in the last 20 minutes, only putting 25 points on the scoreboard in that frame. Unfortunately, the Lady Greyhounds performed better, hanging 32 points on the Comets in that half.
As the Comets fell behind, they began to use the three-point shot as their offensive strategy. However, they were only able to connect on two of the 20 treys they launched in the game. Jordan Davidson hit both of the three-point shots for Cottey.
Santana Cruz paced the Comets with 17 points and Blaklee Sanders added 14. FSCC out-rebounded the Comets, 34-22.
The loss dropped the Comets' record to 6-14 on the year. Cottey will host Hesston College on Thursday, February 23, at six p.m. inside the friendly confines of Hinkhouse Gymnasium.
